Representing Houston Ship Channel Security District (HSCSD) Zone 2, Buck Tadlock of NewMarket Corp. (Afton Chemical and Ethyl Corp.) gave PCAC attendees a general understanding of HSCSD’s purpose and activities to keep plants and the Port of Houston safe from threats.
Lt. Steve Twitty, with Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and the section lieutenant for its Maritime Tactical Operations Section, described the technology and tools that HCSO and HSCSD use in their security efforts.
The speaker(s) explained how the entities — industry, the port, the Coast Guard, HSCSD, and others — work cooperatively to prevent and respond to a security incident. The speakers also explained the potential threats that might target the Port of Houston and its industries.
